The twelve Olympians were Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes, and either Hestia or Dionysus (depending on the version). They were the principal deities of the Greek pantheon who resided on Mount Olympus.

Zeus controlled the sky, weather, thunder, and lightning. He could throw thunderbolts as weapons, transform into any shape, and had authority over all other gods. Ancient Greeks believed he decided the fate of mortals and gods alike.

According to myth, Zeus swallowed Athena's mother Metis to prevent a prophecy. Athena grew inside Zeus's head and was born fully grown and armored when Hephaestus split Zeus's skull open with an axe, causing no harm to Zeus.

Apollo and Artemis were twin siblings with opposite domains: Apollo ruled the sun, music, poetry, and healing, while Artemis governed the moon, hunting, and wild animals. Both were skilled archers who protected their mother Leto from enemies.

Aphrodite was born from sea foam when the Titan Cronus threw Uranus's severed parts into the ocean. She emerged as a fully grown, incredibly beautiful goddess whose power over love and beauty could influence both gods and mortals irresistibly.

Poseidon controlled earthquakes (earning the nickname 'Earth Shaker'), created horses, and could cause devastating tsunamis. His trident could split rocks, create springs, and command all sea creatures to do his bidding across the oceans.
