Who were the twelve Olympian gods?

What powers did Zeus have as king of the gods?
Zeus controlled the sky, weather, thunder, and lightning. He could throw thunderbolts as weapons, transform into any shape, and had authority over all other gods. Ancient Greeks believed he decided the fate of mortals and gods alike.
Why was Athena born from Zeus's head?
