The first monster truck was Bigfoot, created in 1975 by Bob Chandler in Missouri. He built it by putting massive tractor tires on a Ford pickup truck. Bigfoot became famous for crushing cars at shows, and soon other people started building their own monster trucks, creating a whole new sport.

In 1999, a monster truck driver jumped over 35 feet high into the air! Some monster trucks have even jumped over rows of crushed cars and school buses. These jumps require special ramps, expert drivers, and incredibly strong suspension systems to land safely.
